Prosperity is a new experience in the modern world. We older people have still experienced something of the transition from the old past to the modern world. When we were even nearer at the old past, one seldom heard the word prosperity because also prosperity was rare. Probably in the past prosperity was meant rather life with riches ones, with a minority. A general prosperity is a new experience in the modern world. This experience got clearer since the middle of the 20th century in Central Europe and Northern Europe. Some of this already got experienced in North America before. At all events our general vocabulary was enriched with the beautiful word prosperity since the middle of the 20th century. And not only was a minority meant with that. So the philanthropic life developed at many people which were poor before.

The majority of the people lived after and after already in the prosperity in few decades. Was were stile like a dream with many peoples still more, became daily reality for the people in Central Europe and in Northern Europe. Every day enough meal, beautiful apartments, more work, beautiful clothes, more income, first more bicycles, then cars, television, telephone, journeys, vacation etc. Somebody understood every this as a sign of time: That this is the beginning of a new history in the world of the people - instead of poverty for the people now more and more prosperity for the people. Is a possible intellectual prosperity also a sign of the time for the liberation of the people from an intellectual impoverishment?

Unfortunately, one still hears little of an intellectual prosperity. Someone surprised joyfully to hear the word "intellectual prosperity"; he was in the responsibility for the education. Unfortunately, this is used seldom or not at all in our vocabulary. Can there be something like that at all? One should dare perhaps urgently to say it so: All of us can reach an intellectual prosperity by education. Intellectual prosperity is the liberation from intellectual impoverishment. There is with us people hopeful equipment for this: the general talent, the general teach ability and the general willing to learn.

Could intellectual prosperity become an education aim? This would be beautiful, this would be philanthropic. There can be the wealth of the intellectual life for everyone. This isn't a prerogative of an intellectual aristocracy. Culture isn't a luxury for an elevated living standard. Intellectual prosperity is possible for everyone by humane education. Humane education is also possibly for everyone and necessarily for everyone, just necessary as general school education, like professional education. One doesn't need financial and organizational effort for an intellectual wealth, for this we are so teachable that we learn this everywhere where one teach and live this helpfully. We could do our best also together as parents, as teachers, as friends, as politicians, as professors that we helpfully succeed to learn and teach and live the intellectual prosperity.
